Painted fabric panel, 44" X 43" by Mickey Lawler, August 2010.

VIEW OF HIP MOUNTAIN
40" X 45"
by Mickey Lawler copyright 2007,
Using large pieces of painted sky and foreground, I hand-pieced
my mountain design into the narrow strip for the focus of the quilt.

BEACH HOUSES
by Mickey Lawler
Copyright 2006, 56”W X 48”H.
A whole piece of painted sky and foreground determined the colors of the pieced element, a series of cottages on a narrow
strip of land separating the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Cod Bay.

Beach Houses II
40" X 45"
Mickey Lawler copyright 2007
Using a different scale, different sky, and different foreground changed the choice of fabrics for the cottages,
and completely changed the mood of the scene.

VANISHING POINT
27" x 34", Copyright 1999 Mickey Lawler
Beautiful rocky fabric was the inspiration for this semi-abstract design. The number 3 is significant in many cultures,
but I was aware that our 3 beautiful daughters were lifting off into their adult lives.

TILE TRIPTYCH
by Mickey Lawler (and friends)
copyright 2008, three at 20”W X 64”H each.
My quilting friends and I collaborated to see how many scraps of painted fabrics
we could use up in the two geometric blocks I provided.

SAILS
58" x 47", Copyright 1992 Mickey Lawler
Photograph by Jack McConnell
Sails was the first quilt I designed using predominately hand-painted fabrics.
I generally don't paint fabric to fit a preconceived idea, but
rather I allow the fabrics to inspire the design.

A QUILT FOR TIM
by Mickey Lawler
copyright 2008, 38”W X 46”H.
Made for Tim Mayes, a young neighbor who has been my right-hand through
blizzards, broken tree limbs, and floods, this quilt incorporates his
favorite places, as well as Ganesha, the remover of obstacles!

TERRY'S WEDDING QUILT
Made from "Terry's Trees" and Mickey's (Mom's)Skydyes for
Terry and Tom on the occasion of their 2004 wedding.

WINDOW ON THE COAST OF MAINE
29" x 37", Copyright 1996 Mickey Lawler.
A rocky seascape became the focal point of this pieced quilt, where I also incorporated
a sun-printed "tile" fabric and quieter textures for the window frame.

DUNES
58" x 37", Copyright 1994 Mickey Lawler
Extending the piecing lines of the sand dunes into the sky
provided visual divisions as well as a logical sewing sequence.

NINEPATCH
44" x 44", Copyright 1999 Mickey Lawler
Nine abstract landscapes were cut from leftover painted pieces for a loose interpretation
of a traditional ninepatch to commemorate the last year of the last century.
