Sails was the first quilt I designed using predominately hand-painted fabrics. I generally don't paint fabric to fit a preconceived idea but rather - I allow the fabrics to inspire the design.

A rocky seascape became the focal point of this pieced quilt, where I also incorporated a sun-printed "tile" fabric and quieter textures for the window frame.
